CHARLOTTE — Shona Nakano was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Player of the Week on Tuesday thanks to a perfect weekend that helped Charlotte Women's Tennis to a pair of wins, including a sweep over No. 64 Tulane.
The redshirt sophomore won 6-0, 6-1 from the No. 6 slot against Liberty before a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 over Tulane's Micah Pierce. She also extended her unbeaten streak with partner Ni Xi to 9-0 with a 6-0 win over the Green Wave from the No. 3 spot to help Charlotte to its opening doubles point.
