CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women's soccer program will take to the field as the first 49ers' team in action for the 2016-17 academic year. The Niners will play host to in-state foe Western Carolina at 7 p.m. Friday at Transamerica Field.
Charlotte looks to rebound from a 7-11-1 campaign last fall as it enters the eighth season under head coach John Cullen. Five seniors lead the 24-player squad, which also includes the Preseason Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year in junior Martha Thomas.
Thomas joins seniors Rebecca Beatty and Kaitlin Walker as the team captains in 2016.
