CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte volleyball nearly forced a fifth set after a sluggish start before running out of time in the fourth falling to Marshall 3-1 (17-25, 20-25, 25-16, 23-25) in the Conference USA opener on Sunday afternoon.

After working out some kinks in the first couple of sets, the Niners responded from their 0-2 deficit by taking the third 25-16. Taking an 11-10 lead after an Amani McArthur kill, Charlotte kept the momentum rolling using a 3-0 and 7-0 run right after for a 22-13 lead.
