CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Visiting Rice put up a crooked number in the top of the second and never looked back claiming a 19-4 victory over Charlotte in Friday's Conference USA baseball opener.
"We knew the margin of error would be really thin," started Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "We just did not do well from the second inning on. This is not the standard we need to have. We need to make some big adjustments going into tomorrow."
Rice (15-21, 6-7 C-USA) put together a 10-run frame in the top of the second using a pair of grand slams by Justin Collins and Andrew Dunlap in the inning.
