CHARLOTTE - Following Charlotte's 29-27 Senior Day victory over UAB, punter Michael O'Shaughnessy was named the American Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week in the league's final weekly awards announcement of the season.
O'Shaughnessy averaged 48.4 yards per punt on seven punts, and his first punt of the day went for a school record 77 yards. It was one of two punts over 50 yards on the night as he continued to be a weapon in the field position battle.
It marks the second such honor of the season for O'Shaughnessy, the third of the season by a Niner special teamer, and the second-straight honor after Stephen Rusnak earned the award last week following the Florida Atlantic game.
