Charlotte, N.C. – Behind Cooper Nugent's first career goal and another strong defensive performance the 21st-ranked Charlotte 49ers (2-0) blanked High Point (1-1), 1-0, at Transamerica Field.
GOALS
In the 43rd minute, Charlotte's Teddy Chaouche sent a free kick from just outside the box into the box. The ball bounced around between several Charlotte and High Point players before Nugent corralled the ball. He then sent a shot into the lower right corner of the goal which proved to be the game-winning goal. Nugent returned to the 49ers lineup this season after suffering a season-ending knee injury last September.
