HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In the Conference USA regular-season championship game, the 12th-ranked Charlotte 49ers (6-3-1, C-USA: 6-1) lost to the ninth-ranked Marshall Thundering Herd (9-2-2, C-USA: 6-0-1), 2-0, on the road.
"I am proud of the players," Charlotte coach Kevin Langan said. "They deserved more today. In finals, you need key moments to go for you, not against you. We hit the crossbar twice, and it goes over, they hit it once, and it goes in. They get gifted a penalty. Proud of the boys today; it just wasn't meant to be. We will rest up and watch the selection show tomorrow.
