Charlotte's second-half rally and courageous two-point conversion in overtime brought the 49ers their first win of the season, 25-24, in dramatic fashion over visiting UAB (4-3; 2-2) in the annual Homecoming Game, Saturday at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
The 49ers (1-7; 1-3) rallied from a 17-point deficit early in the third quarter and answered UAB's overtime TD with one of their own to set up the game-winning two-point conversion. It was Charlotte's largest comeback in a Conference USA game.
"I thought we had momentum late in the game," 49ers head coach Brad Lambert said of his call to go for two while facing a 24-23 score.
