Charlotte, N.C. - Behind a strong performance from Jahmir Young, who tallied 18 points and shot 62 percent from the field, and another stellar defensive effort, the Charlotte 49ers (7-5, 1-0) opened up Conference USA play with a 51-44 win over the UAB Blazers (9-5, 0-1).
Cooper Robb added 10 points and Drew Edwards put up nine points to help the 49ers secure their victory over the Blazers. Malik Martin connected on eight free throws in the game including four in the final 24 seconds to secure the victory.
