HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Charlotte softball (24-16, 5-7 C-USA) picked up its first series sweep of the season, downing Conference USA East Division foe Marshall (20-20, 6-6 C-USA) 3-0 and 5-1 in a Sunday twinbill in Huntington, W.Va., at Dot Hicks Field. It is the first three-game conference sweep since 2002 for the Niners.
The dynamic pitching duo of senior Lexi Betancourt and sophomore Haley Wiseman limited the Herd offense, who entered the day second in the league in hitting, to four hits across the two games. Betancourt picked up her fourth shutout of the season, bringing the team’s total to ten on the season and marking the fifth best sum in program history.
