CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers offense couldn't solve East Carolina starter Trey Benton as the 19th-ranked Pirates scored a 3-1 victory in Friday's series-opener. Due to weather, both teams will wrap up the series with a Saturday twin bill starting at 1:00 p.m.
"We just really didn't get in any kind of rhythm," began Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "We need to make some adjustments in the box. You have to be better than OK at this level. We'll see what we can do tomorrow."
East Carolina (10-3) jumped on top of Charlotte quickly in the first as a Spencer Brickhouse single to center scored Turner Brown from second.
