CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore delivered a thunderous two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, ending the game by way of run rule, as the Charlotte 49ers (5-6) defeated Winthrop (7-6), 9-1 at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium on Monday.
Charlotte packed a punch with its at bats on Monday, lashing Winthrop's Kiley Majette (2-2) for nine runs on eight hits in four innings.
Entering the fifth inning the 49ers had a 5-1 advantage over the Eagles. Manring's laser over the wall in left center was her third long ball of the season and second in three games.
