CHARLOTTE – A 6-0 run to close the first half led to a 9-7 lead for the 49ers, but they were unable to hold on as Vanderbilt (5-6, 1-1 AAC) ramped up the pressure in the second half to come away with a 15-14 victory on Saturday.
Charlotte (5-6, 0-2 AAC) was paced offensively by who registered her fifth three-plus-goal game of the season as she tallied four on the day. Defensively, and Giana Cutaia's five and four ground balls, respectively, were game highs.
The 49ers led 13-10 midway through the third before the visitors reeled off a run of their own, racking up five consecutive goals across the final minutes of the third and initial five minutes of the fourth quarter to take a 15-13 lead.
