COLLEGE PARK, MD – Despite a career-high seven save performance from senior goalkeeper Daniel Kuzemka, the Charlotte men's soccer team was nipped by Maryland, 1-0, to open the 2021 campaign on Thursday night at Ludwig Field.
Charlotte (0-1-0) was outshot by the Terrapins (1-0-0), 14-6, with the Niners only getting a single shot on goal, compared to UMD's eight.
The opening half was largely a cagey affair between the sides with the programs combining for just one shot on goal in the opening 35 minutes.
However, as the half progressed, Maryland began to push farther forward and eventually broke the deadlock in the 39th minute from the right foot of Caden Stafford.
