CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte softball (24-17) dropped an extra-inning heartbreaker Wednesday at Phillips Softball Complex, falling 8-5 to North Carolina (23-19) in eight innings.
Charlotte wore special pink jerseys for breast cancer awareness in their honorary "Strikeout Cancer" game.
The Niners and Tar Heels cranked out 12 hits apiece, with the top of the order busting out six for Charlotte in freshman Emma Ocker and sophomores Bailey Rhoney and Haley Pace. Pace smacked her seventh homer of the year and collected two RBI, joined by classmate Taylar Byrne, who had a clutch hit in the seventh to bring in two and tie the game for a third time.
