NEW YORK NY – A pair of singles victories pushed the Charlotte women's tennis team through the first day of the Columbia Invitational at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center on Friday.
Junior Margaux Maquet got the Niners off on the right foot on Friday morning, trouncing Wisconsin's Taylor Cataldi, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals of the Brooklyn Singles Draw.
Later in the day, Sophomore Emma Wilkins blew past Eileen Wang of Penn to advance to the semis of the West Chester Draw.
Ruxi Schech and Rocio Safont each fell in hard-fought matches and will play out the weekend in the consolation sides of the Bronx and Queens draws.
