CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite peppering the VCU goal with 16 shots, the Charlotte men's soccer team fell, 2-0, to the Rams on Friday evening at Transamerica Field.
The win was VCU's (2-1-1) fifth in the all-time series with the Niners (2-2-0).
The opening 35 minutes were a back-and-forth affair, with each side testing the other's back line.
With less than 10 minutes before the break, VCU opened the scoring on a header from Will Hitchcock that gave the Rams a lead heading into halftime.
Out of the locker room, Charlotte dominated the run of play, creating a number of chances that nearly led to an equalizing goal.
