CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Charlotte women's basketball put together an overall strong effort Sunday afternoon with the exception of an early second-half span and its rally at the end left the 49ers just shy of overcoming host Virginia, 65-61, in the non-conference finale inside John Paul Jones Arena.
LEADERS
Sophomore Mariah Linney continued to find her scoring groove, connecting on 7-of-15 field goals, including 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc, to lead all players with 20 points. It marked her third career 20-plus effort, all coming in the last four games when she has been inserted into the starting lineup, to go along with a career-best tying five assists.
