Charlotte, N.C. — Charlotte redshirt freshman guard Ryan Murphy tallied a career-high 27 points on nine-of-11 shooting to lead the 49ers scoring efforts; however, the host Niners (5-14; 1-7 C-USA) fell to the visiting Old Dominion Monarchs (16-4; 7-1 C-USA), 88-66, inside Halton Arena Saturday evening. Murphy also posted a perfect six-for-six mark from three-point range in the contest.
"Old Dominion is a really good basketball team," Charlotte interim head coach Houston Fancher said. "Two areas that they really dominate in are rebounding and they are stingy defensively. For us I thought we contributed a lot to that, we ended up shooting 55% from the field which is as good as we've shot in a while.
