CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Giddy Potts scored a career-high 29 points and Reggie Upshaw made a free throw to break a tie with five seconds remaining to give Middle Tennessee a 73-72 victory over Charlotte on Thursday night.
Charlotte (4-12, 1/3 Conference USA) scored four straight points to take a 71-69 lead but Darnell Harris made a 3-pointer with 49 seconds left. Curran Scott made 1 of 2 free throws to tie with 31 seconds remaining before Upshaw's game-winner.
Harris finished with 12 points and Upshaw 13 rebounds with his seven points for Middle Tennessee, which outrebounded Charlotte 42-28.
