DALLAS – Charlotte's Jada McMillian made the most of her opportunity Saturday, taking over the starting point guard duties in the 49ers' road win at Old Dominion in the absence of all-conference performer Laia Raventós. Her brilliance on the court has earned the first-year player from Raleigh, North Carolina, the February 25 Conference USA Freshman of the Week accolade, the league announced Monday afternoon.
McMillian moved into the starting lineup for the first time in her career and finished with a career-best 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting. She made all five of her attempts from inside the 3-point arc and added 7-of-12 at the foul line.
