BALTIMORE, Md. – Charlotte volleyball began the third weekend of the season with a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 29-27, 25-20) victory over UMBC to open the Charm City Classic on Friday morning. Nalani Lyde more than doubled her previous career high of eight kills to 20 in Friday's win. Charlotte gets back above .500 at 5-4 on the year while sending UMBC to 2-5 overall.
EMPHATIC CLOSE OUT IN THE FIRST
The Niners trailed 21-18 late in the opening set before closing out on a 7-1 run to storm back for the win. An Annika Wetterstrom ace after a pair of UMBC errors forced a timeout before two Tyra Galloway kills, one from Lyde and one from Lana Strejcek completed the comeback.
