CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Mariah Linney joined the Charlotte women's basketball 1,000-point club but her exploits on Senior Day were not enough as the 49ers were unable to complete a second-half comeback in falling 71-68 to UTEP Saturday afternoon inside Halton Arena.

The sharpshooter from Goose Creek, South Carolina, led all players with a season-best 24 points, just four off her career high, to become the 26th player in program history to tally at least 1,000 career points. She is the eighth player under head coach Cara Consuegra to reach the milestone and the second this year, joining Octavia Jett-Wilson who hit her mark Feb.
