CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women's basketball team had a 15-6 run in the final five minutes, closing the deficit to one, but ran out of time and Wake Forest escaped with a 78-75 win Thursday evening inside Halton Arena. The 49ers stayed close thanks to an 8-to-1 advantage on 3-pointers made, although the Demon Deacons dropped in eight more free throws.

Junior point guard Jada McMillian poured in a career-high tying 20 points to lead the Niners. She converted 7-of-10 field goals and 6-of-8 at the charity stripe, while also handing out a season-best six assists.
