Kurt Busch grabs hometown pole

On a picturesque desert evening, hometown boy Kurt Busch ran a picture-perfect lap in the final round of NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying to earn the pole for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Busch did more than just put his No.41 Monster Energy machine on the pole. In the first round of Cup qualifying, he laid down a lap time of 27.49, breaking the track record at the 1.5-mile track. It is the second week in a row that Busch will lead the field to the green flag. He earned the pole last week at Atlanta after Kyle Busch’s time was disallowed after failing post-race inspection.
