CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers track and field team continued its strong performances from indoor to begin the outdoor season at the 49er Classic on Friday, March 19 after sophomore Mateya Haintz broke the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.73m (199'-3").
The previous school record in the hammer was set by Victoria Merriweather in 2017 at the Charlotte Invitational after she put up a throw of 60.33m (197'-11"). Haintz beat this mark by .40m in her outdoor debut with the 49ers to place first in the event.
