On paper, Grace Hunter is listed as a 5-foot-9 guard. However on the hardwood, an explicit position doesn’t define the freshman.
She’s evolved over the course of the season and has become a key cog within head coach Cara Consuegra’s system. She hustles, defends with purpose and scores in the open court, but it’s what Hunter is doing in the offensive rebounding department that sets her apart from her peers.
Over the course of the season, Hunter’s hauled in 58 offensive rebounds. The statistic is staggering considering she ranks top 10 in the conference. However, the first half of the 49ers campaign served as an audition for Hunter.
