CHARLOTTE -- Four runs in the eighth inning erased a two-run deficit for Charlotte Baseball and put the Niners in front in a 5-4 victory over Wichita State on Sunday afternoon (April 6) from Hayes Stadium.
Charlotte (18-13, 6-3 American) only had one run across the plate from a Johnny Sutryk home run heading into the eighth inning and trailed by two after Wichita State (11-20, 4-5 American) broke up a 1-1 tie with two in the top half of the frame. The win gave the series to the Green and White after the two sides split the first two games and moved Charlotte into a tie with next weekend's opponent, East Carolina, for third place in the American Athletic Conference standings.
