No individual sport program in Charlotte 49ers history had a faster start to success than women’s soccer. From the moment the program was announced as the newest sport addition Nov. 17, 1993, to Robbie Church was hired as the first coach Feb. 5, 1994, to the quick work he and his staff put together the first recruiting class, the 49ers have not slowed down any momentum over the last 26 seasons.
The first signees, announced April 24, 1994, included Jennifer Rogers as the first and followed alphabetically by Blair Angell, Shayna Bruce, Maria Ciaravino, Courtney Cook, Melissa Mullinix, Kristen Reed, Amy Rucinski and Jessica Ryan.
