Before he returned to his alma mater in January 2009 to take over the reins of the Charlotte women’s soccer program, John Cullen first wore the green and white as a 49ers’ men’s soccer student-athlete. Cullen, a London, England, native was recruited to the Queen City by then-first year head coach Frank Kohlenstein who was set to take over from Bob Warming.
“Coach Kohlenstein reached out and wanted me to join his program,” Cullen said. “I had about eight schools to show interest, including Furman who was led by future Niners’ coach John Tart.
