ATHENS, Ga. – Charlotte struck first and played a solid first period but an early second-half goal for Georgia shifted the momentum the Bulldogs way the rest of the match and they posted a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon on ESPN3/SEC Network Plus.
The 49ers found the back of the net in the 18th minute when they drew a free kick opportunity just outside the 18-yard box. Freshman Michaella Arteta lined up her attempt and fired it at goalkeeper Emory Wegener. The ball, however, was bobbled and fellow freshman Brynn Douglas made a hard run to put in the rebound at 17:12 for her first career goal.
