ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Charlotte women's tennis held an early 1-0 lead but was unable to sustain it as Winthrop rallied during doubles to collect a 4-1 victory Wednesday afternoon.
"It was a hard fought match today against a tough Winthrop team," head coach Michaela Gorman said.
The lone Niners' point came during doubles play as each of the top-two pairings earned triumphs.
The No. 1 Charlotte (7-5) duo consisting of freshman Pierina Imparato and senior Victoria Pahlett knocked off the Eagles' Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor 7-6 (8).
