DALLAS - Charlotte 49ers men's tennis senior Ignasi de Rueda was named Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

De Rueda went 3-0 last week in singles play. On Thursday, he defeated ODU's Luca Maldoner in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. At Saturday's Senior Day tilt against Davidson, de Rueda fought for another straight-set victory, winning the first-set tiebreaker to claim victory over Yash Parikh, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1. On Sunday, he rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat the No. 34 ranked player in the ITA Singles Rankings, Miami's Adria Soriano Barrera, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
