The Charlotte 49ers (14-17, 4-6 C-USA) road tripped down to Boca Raton, FL, and took the first game of the three-game series against No. 12 ranked Florida Atlantic University 12-7 behind a 18-hit performance and strong pitching from Sean Geoghegan Friday night.
Charlotte didn’t waste anytime scoring as Reece Hampton led off the game with a single to left-center. Brett Netzer returned from a mild wrist injury, smacking a base hit to right field, putting two runners on for the 49ers.
