Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers (6-6) defeated the USC Upstate Spartans (8-2), 3-2, thanks to late-game heroics from sophomore Cori Henderson, who executed a perfect squeeze bunt to score Paysia Reed at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
"I'm just really proud of our team," head coach Ashley Chastain said. "It's a really big win for our program. USC Upstate is a really respected program. They had postseason experience, so I'm really proud at how we executed and competed the whole game."
The Spartans gained an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the first after a single and double.
