CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the first time in program history, the Charlotte 49ers (29-17, 13-6 C-USA) clinched the top spot of the Conference USA East Division after winning two games against the Marshall Thundering Herd (19-11, 8-7 C-USA) this weekend, including a 13-2 run-rule victory in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday evening at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
The 49ers split the day with the Herd, losing game one 4-3, but was able to claim first in the East Division after Lindsey Walljasper hit a walk-off grand slam in game two to run-rule Marshall in six innings.
