The Charlotte 49ers (8-4-6) are on to the championship match after sailing past a formerly unbeaten and top-10 ranked FIU (11-1-4). They are hoping to continue their impressive postseason performance and grab the program its first championship title in four years, being the seventh in program history.
FIU took the lead at 1-0 early on in the game, after only 12 minutes of play when Santiago Patino passed the ball to teammate Paul Marie. Almost 12 minutes later the Niners put themselves back in it when Daniel Bruce sent a ball to Marco Sunol-Rojas to tie the game at 1-1.
