The Charlotte 49ers (16-23, C-USA 6-10) dropped the first game of the three-game series to the Marshall Thundering Herd Friday night 7-2, giving up nine free passes to the Herd offense and not capitalizing with runners on base.
“We gave them nine free base runners tonight and had some poor at-bats early in the game,” said Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “Marshall was the aggressor early in the game. At this level of competition, you can’t let that happen. We’ve got to show up and play better tomorrow.”
Sean Geoghegan (2-5) toed the rubber for the 49ers against Marshall (20-15, 9-7 C-USA), pitching 5.
