The Charlotte 49ers (15-20, 5-8 C-USA) dropped a 10 inning heartbreaker to Conference USA (C-USA) opponent Middle Tennessee Friday night 12-11 to open up their three game series with the Blue Raiders, despite a grand slam from Derek Gallello, a Logan Sherer blast, and a 12-hit overall team performance.
The Blue Raiders (15-19, 3-10 C-USA) got on the board in the first, capitalizing on a Charlotte error and smacking two doubles to accumulate three runs off of Sean Geoghegan, who eventually went five innings while giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits and seven strikeouts.
Zach Jarrett picked up a two-out single to left field in the second, with Gallello following that single up with a walk.
