The second quarter of Charlotte's 38-20 loss to North Carolina on Saturday saw players exit en masse, led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Max Brown.
Gold was found in the players tasked to fill the voids.
Deshawn Purdie became the first true-freshman quarterback in program history to throw a touchdown — he finished with two, including a fourth-down "video game" throw to redshirt junior Henry Rutledge as part of his 134 yards.
