SONOMA, CA – Carl Edwards was quickest in the first round of Sprint Cup qualifying, and in the second and final round, was able to once again lay down the fastest lap, clinching the pole for Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.
Coming into Saturday’s qualifying session, the Colombia, MO native had confidence on his side. The No.19 Joe Gibbs Racing machine was top-5 in both of Friday’s practice sessions, sparking chatter in the garage area that Edwards was going to be one of the top contenders for the pole.
“Just can’t say enough about my guys,” said Edwards after qualifying on FS1.
