Charlotte's offensive attack will rely heavily on the skill positions, where top returners abound. QB Chris Reynolds led the 49ers passing attack, last year, before an injury sidelined him. He and USF transfer Brett Kean are in a stiff battle for the starting role. All-Conference USA running back Benny LeMay ranked second in the league last year with 103.5 rushing average and 1,243 rushing yards. Red-shirt sophomore Victor Tucker was the third-leading freshman receiver in the FBS with 4.9 receptions per game and 64.7 receiving yards per game.
