HOUSTON, Texas – After escaping a bases loaded jam with one out in the bottom of the eighth, the 18th-ranked Charlotte baseball team took advantage by plating two in the top of the ninth clinching the outright regular season in Conference USA with a 6-4 extra-inning win in game two. The regular season championship is the first-ever for the Niners in Conference USA.
"As someone who grew up in Charlotte with a coaching staff from Charlotte, this one is for Charlotte," began Head Coach Robert Woodard. "This is for the university, all of the former players, all of the alumni, Niner Nation and the future Niners to see what this program is capable of and that there's more to come.
