CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A trio of pitchers combined on an eight-hit shutout as Charlotte baseball blanked Middle Tennessee 5-0 in Sunday's series-finale to clinch the weekend. The 49ers offense aided the defensive efforts with a 13-hit splurge as well.
"I've never been more proud of a team here than these guys today," started Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "It's been a very difficult week for everybody and we hit the wall there in about the fifth inning. We ran out of gas, but we kept playing and pitched at a high level. I'm proud of our guys, our administration and all of Niner Nation for dealing with an extremely difficult situation in the most positive manner we could.
