MIAMI, Fla. – FIU mounted another late inning rally on Sunday afternoon but this time, the Charlotte 49ers shut down the threat holding on for an 8-7 victory to clinch the Conference USA series in Miami. The Niners took two-of-three from the Panthers for the second-straight year. Charlotte rebounded nicely with a 3-1 week counting Tuesday's win over UNC Asheville.
"We won two-out-of-three and had a chance to sweep a really good team," began Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "With that being said, today was the epitome of a grind it out game. We ran out of gas late with back-to-back road series, but I'm proud of our guys for the way the dug down and finished the game off today.
