CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte baseball split Sunday's series-opening doubleheader with Canisius taking a powerful 9-2 victory in the opener before the Griffs rallied for a 5-3 split in the nightcap. Harris Yett put up a four-hit performance going deep twice in game one while Canisius came up with timely pitching to limit the Niners rally attempt in game two.
"We played outstanding in the first game," remarked Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "We were ready to go, Matt Brooks was good and our bullpen was good. The second game we weren't engaged like we needed to be.
