The Charlotte 49ers (3-2) used a four-run eighth inning to sneak by the Rider Broncs (0-1) Friday night at Robert and Mariam Hayes 4-2, backed by solid outings from Colton Laws and Philip Perry.
“We knew we were going to have a challenge coming in,” head coach Loren Hibbs said. “We got off to a poor start but found our rhythm and played well over the late innings. We did what we needed to do against a really good pitcher and grinded one out.”
After not scoring for the first seven innings, Hunter Jones led off the eighth inning for Charlotte with a five-pitch walk.
