CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte baseball posted three multi-run innings with Harris Yett and Jackson Mims each belting a two-run homer during a 9-2 victory over Iona in the 2018 baseball season-opener on Friday afternoon. Four players posted multi-hit afternoons while the 49ers defense help strand a dozen Gaels on the base paths.
"We won and that's a good thing," started Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "It's good to get the first one out of the way. I thought we played really well for four or five innings. I don't think we played as well as we need to moving forward, but we'll get some things cleaned up and we're going to get better.
