CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers baseball team will look to stay hot this weekend hosting Xavier for a three-game set at Hayes Stadium beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. Xavier, a NCAA regional team from last year, was picked to repeat at Big East champs in 2017.
Charlotte (7-2) is off to their best start since 2011 after earning a 6-5 victory at #6 N.C. State on Wednesday night. The win kept the Niners in the #1 spot for strength of schedule and bumped them up to #3 in early season RPI. The overall win streak moved to five thanks to clutch hits from Zach Jarrett and Zack Smith, which became possible thanks to several efforts out of the Niner bullpen.
