CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An early pair of runs in the first followed by an insurance tallied in the fifth helped the Charlotte 49ers baseball team defeat the Czech Republic national team 3-0 on Tuesday night. Charlotte pitchers limited the visitors to just three hits on the night while Petr Cech broke up the no-hitter with a two-out single to center in the seventh.
Reece Hampton led off the first with a triple to center and scored the game's first run as the relay throw to third ended up out of play. Harris Yett later scored from third on a balk after moving to third on a Zack Smith single.
